Install your wire mesh or lath prior to applying the Universal Base Coat and must be in accordance with ASTM C926 or local building codes. ASTM C926 also specifies the placement of control joints.
Mix Universal Base Coat with 3.25-3.5 quarts of water per bag using a hand mixed or machine paddle type mixer for 3-5 minutes. If more water is required to achieve a workable consistency, slowly add small amounts of water to the mix to achieve the desired consistency. Do not mix more material than you can apply in an hour.
Universal Base Coat is intended only for applications over code approved metal lath, per the standards of ASTM C926. Apply the Universal Base Coat in accordance to ASTM C926 and local building codes, you may use a trowel or a sprayer following standard stucco installation techniques.
Provide sufficient moisture to ensure the curing of the Universal Base Coat. Local climate and jobsite conditions will determine the curing of the product.
