General Guidelines
This product is designed for application and use in dry, properly prepared interior environments only. Address sources of water exposure prior to installation and avoid installation in environments where ongoing moisture exposure is likely. LCB is not recommended for use below grade.
Do Not Use:
Where hydrostatic pressure (water) is present or moisture emissions exceeds level permitted for finished floor covering. If the floor covering’s moisture permeability does
not meet or exceed the moisture content of the slab, Dependable recommends moisture remediation. Use Platform EMS, or an approved alternative, to remediate moisture in concrete, consult the Platform EMS data sheet, or call technical services, for more details.
Where surface or ambient temperature falls to or below 45°F 72 hours before or after installation.
Over presswood, particle board, masonite, chipboard, single stripwood floors, luaun or similar dimensionally unstable materials susceptible to moving or swelling.
Exterior, exposed applications or as a wear surface.
Preparation & Application
Reference the floor covering and adhesive manufacturers documentation to verify
compatibility with LCB Rapid as an underlayment for the flooring system (any adhesive used for concrete is generally suitable for LCB Rapid). LCB is suitable for use in dry, interior environments.
For applications over concrete, follow the directions of the flooring and adhesive manufacturer to determine the maximum allowable moisture content (RH) or moisture vapor emissions tolerated by the adhesive and flooring finish. Only for use on grade concrete when moisture mitigation has been addressed.
Not for use where hydrostatic pressure is present or moisture emissions exceeds the level permitted for finished floor covering. LCB Rapid can tolerate moisture from a concrete slab so long as all of the moisture from the slab will escape past the floor covering. If the installation area is subject to moisture or the floor covering’s moisture permeability does not meet or exceed the moisture content of the slab, Dependable requires moisture mitigation. Use Dependable’s Platform EMS, or an approved alternative to mitigate moisture in concrete.
Honor all moving joints. Complete crack and substrate repairs prior to installation. Consult an engineer for required joints and crack repairs prior to installation.
Maintain a minimum of 50ºF (10ºC) during the pour and for 72 hours after the pour or until dry. Acclimate the material to a minimum of 55ºF (13ºC) prior to mixing. To maximize flowability and working time, utilize cool water when temperatures exceed 85ºF (29ºC).
LCB Rapid features a reduced working time - offering 10-15 minutes of leveling capability. Plan your pour and wet edge accordingly. Consider utilizing LCB when additional working time is desired.
Installation over hydronic radiant heating systems generally require 3/4” cover over the top of the radiant tubes. Some hydronic systems may provide for reduced cover, contact FloorPrep.com Technical Service for low profile radiant systems. It is generally recommended to cover any hydronic tubing with at least 1 - 1.5x the diameter of the tubing. LCB Rapid is compatible with and accepts the direct application of, urethane, moisture cure and other typical floor covering adhesives.
LCB Rapid can be applied in one lift to a maximum depth of 2”. All Substrates must be sound, clean, dry and free of contaminants (oil, dirt, laitance etc.) that may interfere with adhesion. Do not use solvents, acids or chemical adhesive removers to prepare the substrate. All bond breaking substances (cure residues, excess salts from silicates etc.) must be removed prior to priming. Completely vacuum all dust and debris from the substrate prior to priming with designated primer. LCB Rapid has tremendous bonding properties. It is recommended to isolate all vertical surfaces (walls) with a bond breaker (isolation tape or other) that will come in contact with LCB Rapid application.
