Surface Preparation
• All floors on which tiles are to be set must be structurally sound and free of frost.
• The atmosphere temperature must be above freezing during its initial cure.
• All substrates should be mechanically cleaned of dust, grease, oil, dirt, and other bond breakers
CONCRETE AND OTHER CEMENTITIOUS SUBSTRATES
• Dampen cementitious substrates prior to commencing application.
• New concrete should be fully cured.
Material Application
KeedeSet Quik is designed to set fast under normal conditions. Pot life is 45 min utes and set time is 2 hours. Hot, dry weather will accelerate the set time. Cold, damp weather will retard set time. Quik should never be used when the temperature is less than 40 degrees F. Quik is formu lated with acrylic polymer additives and only water should be added (approximately 1 gallon per 50 lbs. of dry powder). Mix only amount of material that can be used in 45 minutes. Once initial set has begun it cannot be reversed.
• Mix KeedeSet Quik with 5-5.5 quarts of cool, clean water to obtain a smooth mortar.
• Allow mix to slake, then remix before using.
• Spread mortar with flat side of trowel to substrate; then apply mortar to a depth sufficient to
be notched with required notched trowel.
• With high lug bowed or large tiles, “back buttering” is required to get a minimum of 95%
surface contact.
• Do not adjust after they have been set past 10-15 minutes.
CURING & GROUTING
• Curing is obtained depending on ambient temperatures.
• Grouting can be done before the mortar takes its final set if caution is used not to break the
plastic mortar bond to the tile.
• Normal grouting should be done when light traffic is allowed. (minimum 2 hours)
